Tallahassee Police Arrests Three Teens Following String of Auto Burglaries

October 10, 2025

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested three teens connected to a series of auto burglaries that occurred at two apartment complexes on West Pensacola Street.

On Sept. 30, TPD officers responded to multiple calls from residents reporting vehicle burglaries at apartment complexes located at 1701 and 1800 West Pensacola Street. Detectives with TPD's Burglary and Auto Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and quickly linked the neighboring locations, identifying several teens as the suspects in the case.

The stolen items included several credit and debit cards, which gave detectives an important lead. Shortly after the burglaries, one of the cards was used to make purchases, providing evidence that directly connected the teen suspects to the crimes.

With the assistance of TPD's Community Oriented Policing and Problem-Solving Squad and the Juvenile Services Unit, all three suspects were taken into custody on Oct. 9.

TPD continues to see an increase in auto burglaries across the city, with many occurring when vehicles are left unlocked. In some instances, firearms have been stolen, further endangering the community by arming criminals. These crimes are often opportunistic in nature, with suspects pulling on door handles in parking lots until they find an unlocked vehicle. Once inside, they take items of value, sometimes turning a simple theft into a far more dangerous crime.

Residents are urged to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and never leave firearms unsecured inside a car. Practicing these safety measures helps prevent crime and keeps weapons out of the hands of those seeking to do harm.

TPD remains committed to investigating these crimes and holding those responsible accountable. Anyone with information about other recent burglaries is asked to contact TPD at 850-891-4200. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
