November 18, 2025
On Nov. 18, at approximately 1:26 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Hutchinson Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing through the roof of a single-story residence, along with reports that an occupant might still be inside.
Firefighters made a rapid entry into the home to search for any potential occupants and quickly worked to knock down the fire. The search concluded that the home was clear, and no injuries were reported.
Crews located the bulk of the fire in the back-corner of the structure and were able to bring the incident under control quickly.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents.
The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.
The Tallahassee Fire Department reminds all residents of the importance of working smoke alarms and planned escape routes. Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of your home. Test them monthly and replace batteries as needed. Families should also develop and practice a home fire escape plan, ensuring everyone knows at least two ways out of each room and a designated meeting place outside.
Working smoke alarms and a well-rehearsed escape plan save lives.
