Tallahassee Police Make Arrest Following Standoff

On Oct. 3, just before 8 a.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to a call for service at an apartment in the 1900 block of Corvallis Avenue in reference to a hostage situation. When officers arrived on scene, the armed suspect was barricaded inside the home with two adult females. A short time after officers arrived, the victims were able to safely exit the home. Additionally, the nearby residences were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
Due to the nature of the incident TPD’s Tactical Apprehension and Control Team, who have specialized training, were called out to assist with the arrest of the suspect and to ensure the safety of others in the area. Additionally, Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene to offer assistance with their K9 unit.
Roughly six hours after officers initially made contact with the suspect, he surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
