On December 4, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to Magnolia Court Apartments in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult female with a gunshot wound to the abdominal area. Life-saving measures were attempted; however, she succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
During the investigation, detectives with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit quickly determined that the suspect, Anthony Holley Jr., and the victim were in an ongoing relationship. On the day of the incident, Holley was seen handling an AR-15–style rifle in a reckless and careless manner, pointing it toward the victim and a small child she was holding. Further investigation revealed that the firearm discharged while in Holley’s hands, striking the victim. The child was unharmed.
Holley fled immediately after the shooting. Within hours, detectives located him and recovered a firearm near the scene that matched the description of the weapon used. Holley was taken into custody without incident.
This arrest is a testament to TPD's ongoing commitment to seeking justice and holding violent offenders accountable. Anyone with information related to criminal activity is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
