TPD Launches Pink Patch Fundraiser Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
August 18, 2021
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) in partnership with Galls, a provider of public safety uniforms and equipment, is pleased to announce the release of the first-ever TPD pink patch in advance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual international health campaign was created to spread awareness and encourage steps toward the prevention of the disease.
"I have seen firsthand the impact breast cancer can have on a patient and their family," Chief Lawrence Revell said. "It is my honor to be part of the unveiling of the first pink patch for the Tallahassee Police Department in support of such an important cause."
TPD hopes to raise $50,000 through this effort to benefit local nonprofits and the American Cancer Society. The pink patches are available for purchase by the public at TPD Headquarters, located at 234 East Seventh Avenue, or by mail, attention: Lieutenant Calvin Bedenbaugh. The patches are $10 each, cash or money order only. For those that purchase by mail, you must send your payment and an envelope with the postage and return address.
Additionally, TPD officers will be able to purchase two patches and have them sewn onto the sleeve of their uniform for free by Galls to show their support for the initiative.
"Our Mission Statement at Galls is that we're 'PROUD to SERVE' those who serve" said Galls CEO Mike Fadden. "As a result, we're delighted to partner with the Tallahassee Police Department on this great cause that affects so many in this community."
The pink patches are just the beginning of what TPD has in store for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Learn more about TPD and stay up-to-date with the department's efforts by liking its Facebook page at Facebook.com/TallyPD or following on Twitter at Twitter.com/TallyPD.
