TFD Responds to Two Structure Fires

At approximately 2:17 p.m. on August 18, Tallahassee Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire within the 1500 block of Pullen Road. Units from Stations 2 and 8 arrived to smoke showing from the downstairs windows of a townhome. Crews performed an aggressive attack and had the fire under control within nine minutes of being dispatched. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
While crews were on scene at Pullen Road, units from Stations 11, 12 and 16 were dispatched to a fire in the 14000 block of Leland Circle. Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing from the front of the house. They had the fire under control within 20 minutes. The fire was caused by cooking.
No one was hurt in either fire. Partnering agencies on-scene included Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County EMS and Leon County Sheriff's Office.
To help prevent fires while cooking, keep flammable items away from the stove top, wear short or close-fitting sleeves when cooking and have a lid nearby to quickly cover and smother a fire.
